Another custom ladder truck with a white roof for a different color scheme
On this ladder truck, I tried to model the extendable outriggers that ladder trucks
use for side to side support
A snorkel truck. It is really hard to get a snorkel to look correct with LEGO because you have to use
enough plates to keep the snorkel arm stiff. It still came out better than I had hoped.
I still need to come up with a more realistic basket.
This is a custom designed ladder truck, pretty typical of my four wide trucks.
The cab from the doors up is black in color to simulate the paint scheme of
the Chicago Fire Department vehicles
This originally started out as set #6358. It is basicallt a model of an arialscope, which
is different than a snorkel in the fact that the boom telescopes instead of articulates. I have
converted it to a two person cab and added a pump panel and equipment rack. A second
axle has also been added to the tractor unit. The trailer unit has been converted from
having a rear steering axle to normal axles.
This is also set #6358. About the only difference is that A second seat has been added here.
You can see the second rear steering axles clearly in these pictures
An attempt to use the #6358 tower unit on a straight truck chassis.
I didn't really like the way this looked so I tore it down.
